Home education - inspiring learning adapted to you
A flexible everyday life that you control yourself? Teaching tailored specifically to your child's needs? Learning anywhere and anytime - even abroad?
There are many different reasons why you might choose to homeschool your child instead of sending them to a traditional school, such as a public school. But it can be difficult to navigate the many options for homeschooling. Whether it comes to content, curriculum, rules, or supervision.
With School To Go you get one big, comprehensive curriculum package where you can choose the lessons that make sense for you. We are like your 'mix-your-own-candy' in education.
What is homeschooling?
Sisse? Homeschooling is a form of education where parents take over responsibility for their child's education, often because external circumstances make it necessary. This can be in situations where the child does not thrive in a traditional school, e.g. due to school refusal, anxiety, autism or other special needs. Homeschooling can also be relevant in the event of long-term illness or families staying abroad.
Different needs
We are all different, and every child and family has different needs. Some choose to homeschool their child because it is the solution that makes the most sense for them.
It may be that your child is having difficulty at school academically or socially. It may be that the child needs to learn in a safe environment due to school refusal, anxiety, autism or ADHD. It may be that you want to have more influence on your child's learning. Or it may be that you need more flexibility, for example because you are traveling abroad for an extended period.
Whatever the reason, School To Go can be your professional help for homeschooling. With our online curriculum platform, we have thousands of lessons in all subjects for grades 1-9 that are ready to go.
Curriculum for every taste
All of the teaching material at School To Go is online, which creates incredible flexibility for you as a family. You can shuffle through the material yourself and select the subjects, grades and lessons that are relevant to you. Whether it's in one of our 18 traditional subjects or 12 modern subjects, there's plenty to dive into.
The platform is created by trained school teachers, and our teaching follows the state's official learning and competence goals and fits the school's core curriculum. Therefore, School To Go ensures that the teaching meets the requirements set in the rules for homeschooling according to the Primary Education Act. With us, you get all the basic methods and basic knowledge that all children should learn - and then you can build on and develop the content yourself.
School To Go is ideal for parents who need help with homeschooling in specific subjects such as Danish, English or math, or who want to supplement with online homeschooling. Here you will get inspiration for the teaching and you can ensure that your child has access to a complete quality curriculum - without having to organize all the teaching yourself. This frees up a lot of time for you. And who knows; maybe you will end up becoming smarter yourself?
Support directly to the child
All our lessons are recorded on audio, supplemented by an easy-to-read document that you can follow along with. All you have to do is press play and you will receive the lessons directly in your ears.
School To Go is therefore ideal for children with autism, ADHD or anxiety, as the child has the opportunity to receive structured and flexible teaching at their own pace. With a pair of headphones on, the child can enter their own zone and receive learning directly.
Rules and legislation for home education
Homeschooling is regulated by the Danish Primary School Act, which allows parents to teach their children at home. According to the law, there is no requirement for a specific curriculum, but the teaching must be comparable to what is offered in primary school.
The municipality supervises homeschooling to ensure that children achieve the necessary academic outcomes. If the requirements are not met, the municipality can require the child to be enrolled in a traditional school. Rules for homeschooling in primary school are clear and must be followed to ensure that the education meets the applicable standards.
Help and subsidies for homeschooling
There are no specific subsidies for homeschooling, but it may be possible to apply for support through the municipality, especially if the child has special needs that require extra support or aids.
Some municipalities offer special education grants for homeschooling children with autism, ADHD, or other special needs. Parents can also seek guidance on how to best structure homeschooling and ensure that the education meets the necessary standards.
