Homeschooling for children with anxiety
Anxiety can make it difficult for children to participate in traditional education, as social interactions and expectations can be incredibly overwhelming for the child.
Homeschooling can therefore be a solution, as the child can learn here in a safe, calm and less stressful environment.
School To Go offers:
Safe framework for learning
School To Go offers lessons in your own home, which can reduce the anxiety that can arise in a physical classroom environment.
Our audio lessons can be played at the child's own pace, creating a safe environment for learning as there is no pressure from the environment. The child does not have to worry about interacting with other students, and they can stop or repeat the lesson if they feel overwhelmed.
It gives a sense of control over one's own learning and helps reduce the stress factors that can be associated with school.
Rules and legislation for children with anxiety
Children with anxiety have the right to special support at school under the Primary Education Act. If the child's anxiety prevents them from participating in regular education, the municipality can offer special education or support measures.
Parents can also choose homeschooling if the child's anxiety is so severe that it requires homeschooling. However, the municipality must supervise the education.
Help and subsidies
Parents of children with anxiety can get help through the municipality's PPR, which can offer advice and support on how to adapt the teaching to the child's needs. The municipality can also offer psychological help.
You can apply for additional expense benefits to cover extra expenses associated with homeschooling a child with anxiety, such as psychological assistance or assistive devices.
