Teaching for children with anxiety
Anxiety can make it difficult for children to thrive in a regular school, where social demands, noise and unpredictability can be overwhelming. For some children, it is so stressful that they cannot attend school at all.
In these cases, homeschooling can be a safe and sustainable solution. Here, the child has the opportunity to learn in a calm environment without external pressure – and at their own pace.
Note: Children with anxiety can also use School To Go in the classroom as extra support.
School To Go offers:
Safe framework for learning
School To Go provides access to homeschooling that can be customized to the individual child's needs. Our audio-guided lessons can be played at the child's own pace, so the child doesn't have to worry about social demands, performance, or unexpected interruptions.
The child can listen, stop and repeat the lesson when they need to – without feeling monitored or pressured. This creates calm, structure and a sense of control over their own learning, which is crucial for children with anxiety.
Rules and legislation for children with anxiety
Children with anxiety have the right to special education at school. If the child's anxiety prevents them from participating in regular education, the municipality can offer special education or support measures.
Parents can also choose homeschooling if the child's anxiety is so severe that it requires homeschooling. However, the municipality must supervise the education.
Help and subsidies
Parents of children with anxiety can get support through the municipality's PPR, which can provide guidance on teaching methods and adaptations. The municipality may also offer psychological help or other relevant support for the child.
We can also recommend using a social advisor via www.digitalsocialraadgiver.dk or www.oldenburgraadgivning.dk if individual advice and consultancy is needed.
