Homeschooling in geography

In our geography teaching, we give children a solid foundation in both natural and man-made conditions for living conditions in Denmark and globally.

Subject purpose and curriculum

We have taken as our starting point the state's, and including the Ministry of Education's, objectives and guiding guidelines and learning objectives for basic educational content, so that we ensure that mandatory and important learning is the framework for the teaching and is appropriate for the age level. The curriculum has been updated to 2024 and is thus ensured of the latest knowledge and methods. We have also compiled the curriculum overview for you, so that you can keep up with what you should be able to do. We refer to the description of the subject's objectives and the full curriculum overview here:

Understand contexts and challenges

The teaching focuses on understanding basic geographical concepts, relationships, and societies' use of natural resources. Children will acquire knowledge and skills that help them understand the global challenges we face today and how they can play an active role in the solutions.

Get to know geography

In geography we explore a wide range of topics and delve into topics such as:

  • The Earth and its structure: We begin by exploring the structure of the Earth, plate tectonics, and the processes that create continents and oceans.

  • Weather and climate: Children learn about basic meteorology, weather types and climate zones, as well as the global impact of climate and possible future scenarios.

  • Natural resources and biodiversity: The course covers ecosystems, biomes and biodiversity, as well as how we can preserve these resources through sustainable solutions.

  • Demography and occupations: We examine population growth, labor market developments, and global occupations, as well as how globalization affects economies, technologies, and cultures.

  • Energy sources and sustainability: The children gain an understanding of energy resources, both fossil and renewable energy sources, as well as the challenges and opportunities inherent in a sustainable energy policy.

  • Globalization: Children will learn about the impact of globalization on trade, technology, culture and the environment in a globalized world.

  • Urban structures and urbanization: We delve into urbanization processes, the challenges of overpopulation, and sustainable urban planning.

  • Maps and geography: Children will master map types, geographic information systems (GIS), map reading, and navigation to understand the world around us.

Individual learning needs

We have created a platform that is tailored to meet your child's individual learning needs, making us an ideal solution for both parents who want to homeschool your child and those of you who are looking for extra support in specific subjects.
